The trade fair takes place every two years in odd-numbered years in November at the Hannover Fairgrounds, the largest in the world, known for its extensive exhibition areas and commitment to promoting the industry. The fair, which has its roots in the DLG exhibition first held in 1887 and has been independent since 1985, was originally located in Frankfurt am Main but moved to Hannover in 1995 due to growing international interest and increased demands on space and infrastructure.
