Key market players, pioneers and experts gather to discover the latest technologies and services on a global scale.
Following World War II, the construction industry experienced a boom as infrastructure needed rebuilding and modernisation. Simultaneously, the construction and building materials industries rapidly advanced to meet growing demands for efficiency, performance and innovation.
The first bauma, initially called the „Construction Machinery Exhibition,“ took place on Munich’s Theresienhöhe grounds as a national showcase. However, demand quickly transcended Germany, leading to the fair’s swift internationalisation. Its success underscored the industry’s need for a central platform to exchange ideas on new technologies machinery and construction processes.
Relocated to the state-of-the-art exhibition grounds of Messe München, bauma has continually expanded and evolved into the world’s largest trade fair of its kind. Today it’s recognised as the leading global trade fair for construction, building materials, mining machinery, construction vehicles and equipment. It remains a key platform for industry innovation and networking.

Bauma will establish industry standards through five key themes: achieving climate neutrality for sustainable construction sites, exploring alternative drive concepts like hydrogen eFuels and battery-electric solutions, digital transformation in construction via connected building processes, sustainable construction using recycled materials and circular economy principles, and the Mining Challenge. This challenge focuses on securing raw material supplies while adhering to strict environmental and social standards.
The fair’s remarkable diversity is evident in its four key areas: construction sites, building material production, mining and raw material processing, and suppliers and services. This structure encompasses the entire value and process chain of the industry. International exhibitors showcase the latest machinery innovative technologies and pioneering solutions shaping the future of construction and mining.
